A beach vacation is a great opportunity to rock more festive loungewear.
In 2019 I don’t think anyone knew what 2020 had in store. Food shortages, face masks, and social distancing were beyond comprehension. For me, 2019 was a good year. A year ago this week, my then-girlfriend (now fiance) and I traveled to Australia and The Cook Islands. It was in The Cook Islands that I proposed to her. I made sure that I picked out some stylish-beach wear for the proposal and exploring but was also excited by some loungewear for laying around. After all, this was a vacation and there would be tons of laying around reading, drinking coffee, and listening to the sounds of the ocean.
Celebrating last year’s proposal in style.
After the proposal, we stayed at the Aitutaki Lagoon Resort in an over-water bungalow…definitely one of my favorite hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The bungalow had a deck with some beach chairs. I loved having my morning coffee on the deck in my beach loungewear. In the mornings it did get a bit chilly so having with me a summer robe was ideal.
My first non-plush robe was one from Stafford (J.C. Penney’s house brand) that I purchased on clearance for $7. Talk about a good find! It’s not super comfortable but what drew me to it was its festive pattern. To me, this robe is meant as a pool or beach cover-up. I paired this with some matching lounge pants from 32 degrees. It’s also thin and folds up well in a suitcase.
If you’re looking for a more comfortable summer robe, try the Daniel Buchler robe. But if you want something stylish for the pool or beach, try loungwear with a festive pattern. You’re unlikely to be able to find this robe or much at J.C. Penney’s due to their stores closing. Or if you’ve won the lottery, you could always spring for a robe from New & Lingwood (be careful not to get silk wet) paired with some micromodal pants. I’ll review my Calvin Klein Micromodal clothes in a future blog, but trust me–they’re soft!
