In this house, Sunday mornings are calm and a great time to sip on a little more refined coffee drink than my typical espresso. A cortado is perfect for savoring when you have extra time, which is contrasted with the espressos I have on a weekday which I drink with the speed of any type of shot.
A Cortado is essentially just an espresso shot with an equal part of steamed milk. Roasty Coffee has a great article explaining how to make a cortado. If you don’t like a cortado or espresso, feel free to experiment with different types of espresso and milk. I personally like a lighter roast coffee bean for a straight espresso. But when using milk, prefer a bolder coffee bean.
