Hey La Bottega – Please Sell Me Your Hotel Robe

The Edition Robe at EMC2 Hotel

It wasn’t too long ago that I stayed in the EMC2 Hotel in Chicago. The hotel was hip and perfect for relaxing. But the best part about the room was the robe! The robe was similar to a spa robe and had a terry cloth lining but another layer that acted as the shell. By far, this is one of the best robes and probably best hotel robe I’ve ever worn. The inner layer was super soft and with the outer shell, felt warm enough for cold Chicago weather.

My curiosity was piqued. How could I get my hands on one of these robes?! I looked at the tag to find out it was made by La Bottega. They even did a post about it and it is exclusive to Marriott hotels. Now knowing that it’s called the edition robe, a simple google search led me to the Marriott store where you can by everything from the hotels, including The Edition Robe. The bad news is, not only is the robe $150 but it also features an edition hotel logo monogram on the back. Even if I was willing to pay the marked-up $150 price, I didn’t like that it had a monogram on it. If a robe or anything else is going to have a monogram on it, I want it to be my monogram, not a hotel I stayed at.

La Bottega Won’t Sell to You or Me

More bad news — The La Bottega website says they sell exclusively to hotels. At least at this time, I don’t own a hotel so I’m at a loss. This seems like a guilty pleasure that may have to exist only when I visit a Marriott hotel with this robe.

Is Brooklinen The Solution To The Hotel Robe?

However, I am curious to see if the Brooklinen plus robe I ordered is similar to this one. I heard The How I Built This Podcast with the founders of interview and they founded their company on a similar problem I faced. They loved the bedding of a hotel they stayed at, only to find that the bedding was either not available for purchase or crazy expensive. That’s exactly my problem!

My first Brooklinen order arrives next week and I’ve got my fingers crossed that their robe is close to the EMC2 robe.
